BEGINNING RIGHT MATERNITY PROGRAM OFFERS THE RIGHT SUPPORT
A major part of the services offered in the Beginning Right Maternity Program include evaluating a member’s strengths and discussing their concerns to support them towards achieving a successful pregnancy. The focus is on physical health and treatment options. Lisa enrolled in at 9.2 weeks with a high risk diagnosis. She had a low lying anterior placenta which could have resulted in additional issues. Her Case Manager, Pleshette Yastrebov created a support system that Lisa needed to progress through each stage of her pregnancy. Pleshette engaged during the entire pregnancy through telephone calls, always there to provide the support and calm Lisa needed during this time. She also shared educational content focused on preparing Lisa for upcoming tests, addressed what to expect during particular tests, and also highlighted expectations during labor and delivery. An integral part of the program is helping a member recognize symptoms they could have overlooked that should be addressed with their physician immediately.  Lisa was grateful for the robust educational content offered to her by her Case Manager, and her commitment to answering all of Lisa’s questions along the way. Good nutrition throughout the pregnancy was discussed. Finding a balance required planning and control, especially during the first trimester. Lisa appreciated the support of her coach and regular opportunities to connect and check-in regarding the progress of her pregnancy. She never felt alone, Pleshette was always there each step of the way.

WALKING THROUGH PREGNANCY AND BEYOND ONE STEP AT A TIME.
Lisa was committed to doing everything possible to ensure this pregnancy would be a successful one. It was exciting to learn after a failed miscarriage that she became pregnant with an IVF treatment.

Through the continued support of her Case Manager, Pleshette her anxieties were comforted and she was able to manage her day to day activities. Pleshette continued to serve as the extension of her doctors and answered questions that concerned her throughout her journey. She also helped Lisa prepare questions for her doctor throughout each visit.

A PROGRAM FOCUSED ON AN OVERALL HEALTHY START FOR EXPECTANT MOMS DELIVERS UPON ITS PROMISE.
Lisa is grateful for the support the program offered during her pregnancy. Her long journey to having a baby finally came to a happy ending. During a follow-up delivery call, and after 8 hours of Pitocin, a drug which stimulates labor and delivery, 12 hours of a Foley balloon catheter, which helps induce labor, Lisa delivered a healthy baby girl named Emery by C-section. “I feel like we kind of hit the jackpot, she is so easy going” says Lisa reflecting on her newborn baby girl. She was touched that the labor nurses allowed her husband to bring their Labrador Retriever into the room as her husband was forced to leave several times to tend to their dog at home. This compassionate gesture in the labor and delivery unit offered a personal touch she will never forget.  In the coming weeks her Case Manager, Pleshette will reconnect with Lisa for a post-partum discussion and check-in. After all the challenges and roadblocks, everything led to building the family Lisa and her husband always wanted.
